I’m a NYC-based copywriter. I came to science and medicine through public health and the social sciences, having studied Journalism and Spanish in college and Sociology in grad school. During grad school I taught courses with titles like “Political Science from Plato to Nato” to undergraduates.

Early in my career I was a nutrition counselor at a community health center in Boston and a research assistant in the Occupational Health Program of the Harvard School of Public Health. These experiences led me to write grants and lead survey research teams for federal studies, hospitals, cancer research organizations, and medical schools, traveling the country with public health research teams from Los Angeles to Puerto Rico, Alabama to Ohio.

Later, as a developmental editor for non-primary English speakers, I co-wrote manuscripts accepted for publication in peer-reviewed journals. As an editor of journals in 20 specialties for medical publishers and a toxicology textbook series. Working for 15 different advertising agencies over the past 20 years, at least 10 specializing in pharmaceuticals, continuing medical education, veterinary care or medical devices, I brought with me a familiarity with multiple specialties, including cancer, metabolic disease, immunology, vaccines, neurology, women’s health, and mental health.

For a few years I took on varied writing projects between medical advertising gigs, writing technical documents and standards and procedures focused on disaster planning in banking and insurance. I crafted funding proposals for after school and arts-in-education programs. Working with startups to hone their messages, I became interested in B2B communications and took on writing projects in film, health and science.

On a personal note, I like to listen to Jazz, paint portraits, travel, and study languages. Portuguese is my latest challenge. I speak Spanish, understand French, and will travel for work.
